Eleven is Martina McBrides 11th studio album, hence the title. A couple of the tracks remind me of Evolution, one of her earlier albums.
It starts with ‘One Night’. A Good start to the album with a rock/pop beat. The toe-tapping continues into ‘Always be this way’
The first song I’d heard from this album was track 3, ‘I’m gunna love you through it’ It’s a very passionate song about a 38 year old breast cancer survivor and the support and love of her husband. The poignant lyrics, combined with Martina’s voice, really do evoke an emotion and pull on the heartstrings.
The slower songs of the album such as ‘Marry Me’, ‘When you love a Sinner’ and ‘Long Distance Lullaby’ really show her amazing vocals, as does the soulfulness of ‘Closing Time’
If you are looking for something a bit more up-tempo there are ‘Ask the Boy’, one of my favourites ‘Broken Umbrella’ and ‘Teenage Daughters’ with its fun and observant lyrics.
Overall, another brilliant album from Martina with a great track listing, good beats and melodies throughout, combined with amazing vocals.
