Ok, so maybe that title is a little strong, We may not change the world for everyone, but we WILL change the world for country music fans in the UK.
March 31st, 1999 – The day that CMT last aired in the uk. Since then, we have had no country music channel here at all.
Since the day they took CMT off air, we have been completely left out. There are currently 32 music channels on Sky, and not one of them country. Almost every other music genre is catered for, some tastes have several channels to choose from.
This site was set up for people like you and me who live in the UK and like country music. Whilst desperately searching for a place to watch the 2011 CMA awards I stumbled across a web chat where some more people, also like you and me, were discussing the lack of available country music here in the UK. This gave me one of those little lightbulb moments that you often see in cartoons.
“I know, why don’t we try and do something about it”
So here we are. I figured if a Facebook group can revive a chocolate bar from 80′s then, the least we can do is get a music channel on our TVs.
So, what can you do to help?
It’s simple really.
On Monday, August 27th we will officially launch our twitter campaign. Our aim is to let everybody know what we want. Country artists, management, agents, news papers, tv networks, and anybody else you can think of. We need to let them know that we are here, we want this and we wont give up!
Where do you come in?
Tweet everybody that you can think of that has anything to do with country music, media, social networking sites, etc.
Tell them what we want, tell them we need their help and tell them to spread the word. Anybody that you know that likes country music, get them involved. lets get it trending world wide. BUT BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE HASHTAG #UKNeedsCountryMusic - If people see it trending, they will be curious and look and some may even join in. If we make our voices heard, they will have to sit up and listen.
We will also be promoting this on Pinterest. If you’ve found us through that site, please repin and spread the word there, then join us over on Twitter.
And even if you’re not from the UK, we’d love to hear from you. It’s always nice to speak to country fans from around the world.
UPDATE!!! (Aug 27th 2012)
So here it is! Campaign day!
By now, hopefully you will already be following us on twitter. Today is the day we have ben planning for. Today is the day we make the world see that country music fans in the UK are among the most dedicated, active and loyal fans you will ever meet! We will let the world know this by shouting from the rooftops if we have to but the aim of the game is to get more country music here in the UK.
There is a list of twitter accounts below that I have come up with, along with some help thanks to@LuluHihi (below that is also a list of 101 record labels on twitter)
I have made them all clickable so that you can click on the name, copy and paste the same tweet you plan on sending to everyone and then move on to the next. Ultimately, a lot of these twitter users wont be able to do anythng directly for us, but as long as they know what we are trying to do, hopefully they will spread the word and help us reach a musch bigger audience. If you can suggest any other people it may be worth tweeting, or if any of them are incorrect, just drop us a tweet. @welovecountryuk
Just a couple of points before we get going…
Ultimately, we would love a country music channel, but we cant expect these things to happen over night. So any changes that happen because of these tweets, is going to be a bonus. If nothing happens straight away, we wont give up. This is country music!
Please, no rude or abusive tweets. We are asking these people for our help. We aren’t here to start fights.
Please, please, please remember to use #UKNeedsCountryMusic in ALL tweets.
And last but not least….
HAVE FUN AND KEEP IT COUNTRY!!

I am absolutely with you on this. As a 21 year old living in Belfast, I grew up listening to country music, thanks to my grandparents =D I am fed up with putting on the television and seeing music like “N-Dubz etc. I hate music like that, I am a fan of most types of music but my all time favourite is country music. The UK does not realise how big the fanbase actually is =( We need more people to stand up and say that we want real music to listen to =D
100% behind you with this. I listen to Today’s Hot Country via Tune In Radio on my mobile, EVERY SINGLE DAY. I used to watch CMT all the time – couldn’t believe it when they took it off. Come on UK country music fans – I know there are plenty – let’s do something about this! Best of luck Leslie – behind you all the way
